OPay, an electronic payment services provider, and Banque Misr partnered to issue prepaid cards. Banque Misr will act as the payment facilitator and accept OPay’s electronic payments.
The card will be issued in cooperation with MasterCard and Meeza, this comes in line with the Central Bank of Egypt’s long-term strategy to enhance financial inclusion and digital transformation.
OPay allows users to obtain cards without any issuance fees and without the need for a bank account, through the OPay electronic payment application using only their personal identification card.
“The digital payments sector and the field of financial technology have witnessed growth and prosperity in the past years in terms of the use of electronic payment applications and the gradual transformation of financial transactions, within the framework of the strategy of the Central Bank of Egypt. To enhance financial inclusion, which has caused a change among all classes of the Egyptian people in financial transactions via the Internet due to the large number and diversity of payment methods, so OPay Egypt pays great attention to applying all principles of financial inclusion and investing in the digital economy and reaching a cashless society by providing the latest technology services Financial and digital products,” Hisham Ezz El-Din, Director of Digital Business & Cards Services Sector at OPay, said.
